What
a night we had for Mary! Anyone who was there can contest to that! With more than 500 people in attendance throughout
the night, the Strike Out ALS benefit was the second largest ever at the Rapids Fire Hall...thanks for making that happen!
The
generosity of friends, family and area businesses was overwhelming! Words can not express how much the support means to Mary
and her family.
Joe
Burns kicked off the night with his great music and ended his act by playing a special song that he wrote for his
sister, Mary in light of her disease.
The
most emotional part of the night happened right after Joe ended when Mary's brother Kevin read a speach that
Mary prepared for the event to show her appreciation to everyone. Although she was unable to personally read
these beautiful words, Kevin did a great job in conveying it's message. Everyone in the FireHall sat silent as she thanked everyone
for coming out and all those who helped to make the event possible. She individually thanked and and praised her
children and family for the overwhelming support they have given to her since being diagnosed. Many teary eyes in the
room at that time, but a memory that will last forever to many.
Everyone
seemed to have a great time all night as they: Danced to the music of Joe Burns, James Patrick Lynch and Blues Child; Ate
the delicious food served by Cameo's Restaurant and Desiderio's Restaurant; Tried to win one or more of the 197
Chinese auction baskets; Paricipated in the 50/50 and Sabres ticket raffles; Drank free beer and wine; and bid on the
silent auction items for a chance to walk out with some great prizes!
Most
importantly Mary had the time of her life! She was vibrant and alive all night as she mingled with family; met new people;
and caught up with old friends, some of whom she has not seen since middle school and high school. She glowed all
night night and walked out of there with so many memories that will last forever!
Again
thanks thanks to each and every person for the overwhelming love and support of Mary Burns Sanfilippo and her fight against
ALS!
